Multiple elements for the newly built Joan Darrah Marina, incorporating images of sturgeon and other fish and aquatic life found in the Stockton Slough, a wide and deep arm of the San Joaquin River, extending eastward some three miles from the river into the plain. Stockton's location at the head of this navigable channel, approximately 90 miles inland from San Francisco Bay, enables the city to continue to serve as a major shipping point for many products of Northern California.
